Muscadines are one of nature's richest sources of polyphenolic antioxidants*

What are "Polyphenolic Antioxidants"?

We're glad you asked! The Miriam-Webster dictionary defines Polyphenolic Antioxidants as follows:

A "Polyphenol" as an antioxidant phytochemical. "Phytochemistry" is the chemistry of plants, plant processes, and plant products.

An "Antioxidant" is a substance that inhibits oxidation or reactions promoted by oxygen, peroxides, or free radicals. So basically, polyphenolic antioxidants are naturally occurring, healthful, compounds found in plants, and are especially abundant in the humble but amazing muscadine grape (vitis-rotundafolia). These antioxidant compounds are like little superheros working together (synergistically) to fight free radical damage to our bodies.

Scientific studies suggest these compounds may help us in many ways:

  • Immune Support
  • Brain Health
  • Healthy Cholesterol
  • Joint Health
  • Heart Health
  • Aging
  • Bone Health
  • Digestive Health
  • Healthy Blood Sugar
  • Pancreatic Health

Some of these superhero (phytochemical) compounds found in the muscadine grape include:

  • Ellagic Acid
  • Myricetin
  • Quercetin
  • Kaempferol
  • Resveratrol
  • Gallic Acid
  • Catechin
  • Anthocyanins
  • Caffeic Acid
  • Proanthocyandins
  • (-) -Epicatechin
  • Cholorgenic Acid

Don't worry about the pronunciations; you will not be tested on this. All you really need to remember is that the muscadine grape packs a powerful, all natural punch in the quest for healthy living!

Additional Research

Here are a few important links and resources highlighting the scientific research that's been done regarding the beneficial properties of Resveratrol:

The antioxidant benefits of the grape are believed to fight free radical damage from aging and various chronic diseases. Resveratrol is one of 88 known active compounds in Muscadine Grapes. Resveratrol occurs naturally in certain fruits and activates the Sirtuin enzymes, which have shown therapeutic potential for age-related health problems.

Combined with a healthy lifestyle and taken daily, MotherVine Whole Grape Supplement promotes a wellness regimen you can feel great about. It's just enough of a good thing.
